Food will be significantly more affordable for Phoenix Suns fans beginning Thursday's home game against the Indiana Pacers. That's because team owner Mat Ishbia has ordered the cost of concessions at the Footprint Center to be cut.
Previously, a Suns fan spent $38 on a hotdog, water, soda, chips, and popcorn. Now, he will have to shell out only $10 for the five items after Ishbia reduced the price of each to $2.
"Winning starts with our fans," wrote Ishbia on X. "When I walk the concourse at games there aren't food options for families who don't want to spend a lot of money. That needs to change, so today we're rolling out our $2 value menu for all home games."
Mat acquired the Suns from Robert Sarver for $4 billion in early 2023. In the short period he's owned the franchise, he's already made several big moves that have caught people's attention.
The CEO of United Wholesale Mortgage bolstered the team roster by acquiring Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal in separate trades. He also committed $100 million to construct a new practice facility for the Suns and the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury. After taking care of the players, Mat is now turning his attention to the fans.
"A family of 4 used to spend $98 on hot dogs/water/popcorn," he added. "Now they can enjoy that same meal for $24. Our fans and community are the foundation of what we do and we will continue to invest in making this the best organization in all of basketball, on and off the court."

This isn't the first time Ishbia has done something big for the Suns' faithful. Last year, he cut ties with Bally Sports and made the team's games available on local TV stations across Arizona via Gray Television. To help fans make the switch, he offered to give free TV antennas through the team's website.
"We're not focusing on money," Mat said. "We're focusing on winning, success and taking care of fans, taking care of the community. What happens is you always end up making money. It always works out."
With a net worth of $9 billion, Ishbia has a method to his madness. As a self-made billionaire, he always knows what he's doing. The Suns fans can only hope that the same goes for the team, as they currently sit sixth in the Western Conference with a 14-11 record.
