Wizards rookie Alex Sarr joins exclusive company

Alex Sarr continues to strengthen his case as one of the NBA’s most impactful rookies, and his latest milestone puts him in rare company.

In the Washington Wizards’ 122–103 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night, the 19-year-old posted 12 points, three rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block.

While his shooting on the night was inefficient — just 5-of-14 from the field and 0-of-1 from three — the performance marked a historic achievement.

Sarr became just the third rookie in league history to record at least 100 three-pointers made, 100 blocks and 100 assists in a single season. The only other players to reach that benchmark: Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren.

The milestone reflects Sarr’s versatility and adaptability in the modern NBA. At seven feet tall with the mobility of a wing, the French big man has showcased a dynamic skill set, offering rim protection, floor spacing and playmaking from the frontcourt. His ability to defend the paint while knocking down outside shots positions him as a key piece for a rebuilding Wizards team.

Sarr has shown steady improvement throughout the season, enduring expected growing pains but emerging stronger post-All-Star break. Since the break, he’s averaging 16.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. While his overall shooting numbers remain modest (.397/.311/.677), his 1.9 made threes per game highlight his potential as a modern, two-way big.

Among rookies since the break, Sarr’s 373 total points rank second, trailing only Rookie of the Year frontrunner Stephon Castle. His 43 three-pointers are fifth-most among rookies, including guards, while his 34 blocks rank fourth.

Earlier this season, Sarr also became the youngest player in NBA history to reach 60 made threes, 300 rebounds, 105 assists and 70 blocks in a rookie campaign. He began his career with six straight games of multiple blocks, a feat matched only by Shawn Bradley in 1993–94.

In a difficult season for the Wizards, Sarr’s emergence has been a rare bright spot — and a signal of hope for the franchise’s future.
