Sacramento Kings guard Zach LaVine appears to be at a crossroads right now as he ponders his future. The Kings spiraled to the bottom anew this season, and the road ahead is not paved with optimism.
The Kings finished with a 22-60 record, tied with the Utah Jazz for the worst record in the Western Conference and the third-worst in the entire league.
LaVine will be one of the players to look out for in the offseason, as he could draw interest from multiple teams. According to CBS Sacramento’s Jake Gadon, as cited by NBA Central, LaVine is still undecided about picking up his $49 million player option.
“I will go back and look at the best course of action and ask what is most important to me right now,” said LaVine.

ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel recently reported that the 31-year-old LaVine will opt in with the Kings, who acquired him in a midseason trade with the Chicago Bulls in 2024.
“This upcoming summer, we shouldn’t expect a whole lot of movement regarding big contracts being signed in free agency,” said Siegel.
LaVine, who had a viral incident with a fan, was limited to only 39 games this season due to various injuries. He averaged 19.2 points—his lowest since 2017-2018—and career-lows 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
Aside from his large contract, his fit with the Kings remains an issue, as he plays alongside fellow high-usage guards DeMar DeRozan, Russell Westbrook, and Malik Monk.
While LaVine is still among the top offensive weapons in the NBA, he may have to adjust his game if he wants the Kings to succeed.
He was linked to trade rumors this season, with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Milwaukee Bucks mentioned as possible landing spots.
