A large number of notable names will be absent from the 2026 Cadillac Championship, the upcoming PGA Tour event at one of President Donald Trump’s most popular golf courses.
The 2026 Cadillac Championship will be played at Donald Trump’s course, Trump National Doral Miami, in Doral, Florida. The four-day tournament begins this Thursday and will conclude on Sunday.
It’s the third-last event before the PGA Championship, one of the four golf majors. The Truist Championship will be held next week, followed by the Oneflight Myrtle Beach Classic before the PGA Championship begins on May 14.
However, the 2026 Cadillac Championship will be missing a long list of premier golfers.
According to Elliott Heath of Golf Monthly, nine notable golfers will skip this year’s event at Donald Trump’s course. The nine are: back-to-back Masters winner Rory McIlroy, Tony Finau, Marco Penge, Wyndham Clarke, Brooks Koepka Robert MacIntyre, Xander Schauffele, Ludvig Åberg and Matt Fitzpatrick.
McIlroy and Fitzpatrick are ranked second and third in the world, respectively. Schauffele (ninth), MacIntyre (12th) and Åberg (14th) are also in the top 15.
Trump reportedly owns 17 golf courses around the world. Over the years, his courses have hosted numerous PGA events.
The Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey was actually scheduled to host the 2022 PGA Championship. However, it was moved to the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attacks and riots.
Trump is close friends with Tiger Woods, who called the president moments after his March 27 car crash. Woods is also in a relationship with Vanessa Trump, Donald Trump Jr.’s ex-wife.
The 79-year-old president has also received endorsements from golfing icons like Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman and John Daly.
