2025 Mock Draft: Chiefs Take Arizona State RB in 3rd-Round

The Kansas City Chiefs want to get their running game going in the 2025 NFL season. The Chiefs run game last season was not there no matter what they tried. And if they want to get where they want to be, they will need to get a run game. It is going to be interesting to see what the Chiefs do the rest of the offseason to get a running back in the building, with starting running back Isiah Pacheco and veteran back Kareem Hunt.

The Chiefs have both Hunt and Pacheco next season but with Pacheco coming off an injury that limited his time on the field last season and Hunt who cannot carry the load for the whole season, the Chiefs must bring in another back to take the load off in the running back room and also for star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

When the Chiefs have a running game, they are nearly unstoppable. The Chiefs are heading to the new season, and they will need an answer soon, or else they won't be able to get back to the big game next season and win it this time.

One place the Chiefs can find a running back, is in the 2025 NFL Draft. This is a good spot because there is a lot of talent and the back are younger and will have fresh legs to help the team win.

Dane Brugler of The Athletic has the Chiefs taking star Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo in the third round. The Chiefs can take him as they have two picks in the third round. If the Chiefs can get Skattebo in the third round it would be steal and a good pick up for the team.

"Carnage creator with a compact frame and elite contact balance. Skattebo can break through second-level tacklers and careen off bodies for extended yards after contact. He reads his blocks quickly and is more elusive in the early stages of the run than he’s probably given credit for," said NFL analyst Lance Zierlein.

"He lacks top-end speed and will have to contend with bigger, better tacklers on the next level. Skattebo’s effectiveness as a receiver out of the backfield should add to his draft value. His physicality and edge should bode well for him as a complementary back with three-down value who is capable of helping an offense wear down the defense."
