Although the Cincinnati Bengals dropped yet another game , this time to the Green Bay Packers, 27-18, this outing was far less atrocious than the last few. Cincinnati showed offensive promise, and Green Bay was firing on all cylinders.
Joe Flacco looked decent, one RB seems set for a massive season, and a certain tight end proved that he could be in for a bigger workload going forward. Here are the three biggest Bengals vs Packers Week 6 fantasy takeaways.
The biggest storyline entering this game was Cincinnati’s new quarterback. How would Flacco look having been acquired less than a week before his first start with the team?
The answer: not bad, finishing the game with 219 passing yards, a 64.4 percent completion rate, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. Flacco certainly struggled to start, as the team had to run the same few plays over and over again, leading to Ryan Rehkow punting four times, but he eventually found his groove.
In the second half, Flacco was able to lead the team downfield multiple times and keep the game in question for most of the day. It was against a good defense as well, signaling that this should be a rather reliable aspect of his game (especially considering he was thrust into this lineup in a rushed manner).
In terms of fantasy, this doesn’t put Flacco in the same category as Joe Burrow would be, as the latter has some of the best pocket maneuverability in the NFL. It does, however, mean he could be a nice addition off the waiver if you find yourself needing a QB.
The keyword there is could, as this isn’t a guarantee, seeing how bad the Bengals’ offensive line has been this season. Flacco did post a lower-tier QB1 week, though, which can’t be ignored since it came against a strong defense on their home field.
If you find yourself needing a quarterback, Flacco could prove to be a solid albeit risky addition for a week or two.
Josh Jacobs had a phenomenal day on the ground, posting 93 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Aside from being his best game of the season, he seems about to post a monster year, and this could be your last chance to trade for him.

Josh Jacobs once again taking up residence in the end zone. If he’d scored in Cleveland, he’d have a TD streak of 15 games.

Jacobs is on pace to finish with over 20 touchdowns, which would be the most of any season in his career. He’s not the kind of RB who will consistently break off 20 and 30-yard rushes (though he certainly has the capacity to), but he doesn’t have to be.
With each game, Jordan Love, Matthew Golden, Romeo Doubs, and Tucker Craft are looking better and better and fitting into their roles in this offense. Despite this seeming to hurt Jacobs’ fantasy situation, it only helps, as defenses aren’t able to plan around him nearly as easily as they have been in seasons past.
You should be aggressive in pursuing Jacobs, especially if the fantasy manager who has him rostered in your league has an RB or two to spare. He already has a high price tag, but with the season he’s having, he will soon enter the tier of untradeables a la Josh Allen and Aman-Ra St. Brown.
Tanner Hudson, one of the many tight ends the Bengals have had over the past few years, had a nice day against the Packers. He finished the game with four receptions on five targets and a touchdown.

News that also broke after yesterday’s game is that current starting TE Mike Gesicki is out indefinitely with a pectoral injury. Hudson is also under concussion protocol, but is questionable and could return very soon.
Whether Hudson is set to return for the next game or not, he could develop into one of the more solid TEs in a landscape that’s rather barren this season. He established a rapport with Burrow a couple of years ago before Burrow got injured, and is starting to show that same receiving talent that was put on display back then.
Look for Cincinnati to incorporate Hudson more into the passing game going forward, as they now have a QB that will allow them to do so. It doesn’t hurt that this QB already has one TD to Hudson under his belt, either, and will only further his understanding of the playbook going forward.
The Bengals may have lost this game, but it was one of the more promising outings of the season so far. Flacco looked solid, Hudson is getting more comfortable in the offense, and Jacobs (despite playing against one of the worst defenses in the league) seems poised for a massive season.
Let’s be honest, if Cincinnati lost this game with Burrow and the final score was the same, the story would still almost assuredly be how the defense let the offense down yet again. It gets lost among Bengals fans in the spiral of negativity that is the 2025 season, but this was a sneakily promising game from a team that’s looked horrendous to this point.
Tune in later this week for the three biggest takeaways from the Bengals-Steelers Week 7 Thursday night matchup.
