3 Bold Steelers Week 1 Predictions Against the Falcons

The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to open the 2026 season against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, beginning a new era under head coach Mike McCarthy. Week 1 always brings an element of unpredictability, but Pittsburgh enters the matchup with several opportunities to make an immediate statement on both sides of the ball.

With a new coaching staff, a revamped roster and plenty of expectations surrounding the team, the Steelers have a chance to start the season with a strong performance. Here are three bold predictions for Pittsburgh’s Week 1 matchup with Atlanta.

Steelers force 3 turnovers, record 3 sacks, and a defensive score

This might not be the boldest prediction on its own, but we are going to say this parlay is bold. If it comes to fruition, it would mean the Steelers are playing at their best in Week 1 under a brand-new coaching staff. One factor that could give Pittsburgh a slight advantage is the Falcons’ quarterback situation.

Still, Week 1 often delivers surprises, and Pittsburgh can’t afford to overlook or underestimate Atlanta. The Falcons have one of the more talented skill-position groups in the NFL and could give the Steelers’ defense plenty of problems. This prediction puts a lot of pressure on a defense that has something to prove in 2026.

Aaron Rodgers doesn’t get sacked

The Steelers’ offensive tackles didn’t particularly look great during the preseason. However, they improved as they gained more exhibition experience. Now, the challenge is to keep that trajectory moving upward. They also face a depleted Falcons EDGE group, which could work in their favor.

That doesn’t mean Atlanta will suddenly forget how to generate pressure. Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich is one of the best in the NFL, and head coach Kevin Stefanski made it a point to retain him. These offensive tackles could find themselves on an island frequently as McCarthy looks to stretch the field, creating plenty of opportunities for Rodgers to take a hit.

Jaylen Warren gets over 150 yards from scrimmage

Though McCarthy’s offense is expected to be pass-heavy, Warren could be in position for a big day. He not only excels as a runner but also provides a dangerous option in the passing game. The expectation might be that Pittsburgh’s running backs take a back seat to the passing attack this week.

Not this time.

Warren is going to produce strong rushing numbers while also making a few big plays through the air. He could ultimately become the X-factor that no one is talking about heading into Week 1.
