3 Reasons Why The Baltimore Ravens Will Easily Win The AFC North

The possibility of the Baltimore Ravens making the playoffs after a 1-5 start seemed preposterous, especially since only four teams in NFL history have done so. After two convincing wins over the Chicago Bears and the Miami Dolphins, however, the Ravens suddenly look like the squad that everyone has grown accustomed to seeing. Everything is starting to shape up for Baltimore to not only win the division but run away with it. Here are three reasons why the Ravens will once again win the AFC North.

1) The Obvious One, Lamar Jackson Is Back

The two-time NFL MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson returned under center on Thursday night, and for the most part, he looked like his old self. Jackson threw four touchdown passes as the Ravens rolled over the Dolphins 28-6. Outside of the first drive, where he left a third-down throw to Rashod Bateman short, Jackson was on target as he completed 78 percent of his passing attempts. In the post-game press conference, he talked about that particular play to Bateman, and it’s basically what got him going.

After that play happened, I was ready to go. It kinda ticked me off a little bit.

He also moved well inside the pocket and had a pivotal 13-yard, third-down run on an 11-play, 68-yard TD drive. Lamarvelous has returned, which surely means the rest of the division, and perhaps the entire league, should be worried.

2) The Ravens Are Playing Defense Again

Since their inception, the Ravens’ identity has been defense. Legends such as Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, and Terrell Suggs used to instill fear in opposing offenses. This version of Baltimore is likely not suddenly at that level, but they have played much more inspired as of late. They have only allowed 22 points over the last two games, with four takeaways in the process.

After allowing at least 37 points in four of the first five contests, the Ravens look to have turned a corner convincingly on defense. The Bears had scored at least 21 points in every game before facing Baltimore, and were really starting to get on a roll. Even with the Dolphins, who have looked lackluster for most of 2025, they had just dropped 34 on an Atlanta Falcons’ defense that had been pretty respectable. The Ravens are back to playing complementary football, which is a recipe for success moving forward.

3) The Schedule Is Very Favorable Over The Next Month

The Thursday night matchup in Miami was the first of five straight for Baltimore against teams with losing records currently. That includes trips to Minnesota and Cleveland to face the Vikings and Browns, respectively, followed by home games against the New York Jets and Cincinnati Bengals. All four of those teams have a common problem: concerns at QB. Yes, Joe Flacco has provided a bit of a spark to Cincinnati, but if the last handful of years are any indication, he will likely flame out soon.

The Ravens should not have any issues feasting on the upcoming competition, and ironically, the last game during that November stretch is on Thanksgiving Night. Baltimore will likely be enjoying their turkey after a fifth straight victory, and with the upcoming schedule for their division foe, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Ravens will probably have the division lead at that time. That will set the stage for an early December home game against the Steelers, where Baltimore will have an opportunity to truly prove that they are still the kings of the north.

End Of My Baltimore Ravens Rant

What a difference two weeks can make! Just a few short weeks ago, the Ravens looked atrocious on both sides of the ball. Now, some of that is because of the injuries, especially with Jackson, but the team looked straight-up dysfunctional at times! With that said, credit has to be given to guys for stepping up as of late, particularly Tyler Huntley, in that game against the Bears.

The players and staff look to be back on the same accord now, and this looks to be the beginning of a tremendous run for the Ravens. I feel they will easily win this division now and be the only team in the AFC North with a record over .500 once the season ends. Whether they will finally be able to overcome their recent playoff woes is another story, but once you get into the dance, anything is possible.
