The San Francisco 49ers have announced the signing of offensive lineman Chris Hubbard to the practice squad. To make room on the roster, the team has released defensive lineman Jonathan Garvin.
The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown.
Hubbard (6-4, 295) originally entered the NFL after signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent on April 27, 2013. Throughout his 10-year career with the Steelers (2014-17), Cleveland Browns (2018-22) and Tennessee Titans (2023), he has appeared in 94 games (58 starts) as well as six postseason contests. In 2023, he started nine games with the Titans along the offensive line. Hubbard signed with the 49ers on May 14, 2024 and was released by the team on August 27.
A 33-year-old native of Columbus, GA, Hubbard attended the University of Alabama, Birmingham for four years (2009-12) where he appeared in 28 games (17 starts).
Garvin (6-4, 257) originally signed with the team's practice squad on August 28, 2024.
