49ers' Brock Purdy addresses return to where he suffered injury

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy isn't focusing on the fact that this Sunday's game at the 10-1 Philadelphia Eagles represents his return to where he suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow this past January.

"Yeah, I got hurt there and everything, but for me, it's Week 13," Purdy told reporters on Thursday, per David Bonilla of 49ers WebZone. "We're going on the road in a hostile environment. We're late in the season, so every game is obviously big for us. And so that's where I'm at with my mindset. Am I going to go back and feel a certain way? None of that. It's a new year, two new teams, slightly different in ways. So that's how I'm looking at it."

Purdy recently credited improved sleep habits, among other things, for his recovery from surgery that allowed him to return to the lineup for Week 1 of the ongoing season. According to ESPN stats, the 23-year-old begins Week 13 leading the league among qualified players with a 75.6 adjusted QBR, a 112.3 passer rating, 9.4 yards per pass attempt and a 70.2% completion percentage.

As of Thursday afternoon, oddschecker listed Purdy sixth among the betting favorites at +1400 odds to earn Most Valuable Player honors. Philadelphia star signal-caller Jalen Hurts topped the list at +170 odds heading into Thursday night.

"Am I going to go in there and get all sentimental about, 'Man, I've come a long way since?' It's not really like that," Purdy added about his perspective. "We have a goal in mind, and I'm trying to be the best version of myself every week. So am I going to go into the game saying, 'I want revenge,' and all this kind of stuff? It's not like that. So I'm just going to try to go do my job and be the best Brock that I can be for this team."

While the Eagles thrashed the Purdy-less 49ers 31-7 in January, oddschecker listed San Francisco as a three-point favorite for this Sunday's matchup as of Thursday afternoon.
