San Francisco 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir was arrested following an alleged incident with a police officer in Los Angeles on Thursday.
According to a report from TMZ, police observed a vehicle that was double-parked and blocking traffic in the area of West Vernon Avenue and South Wilton Place at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Lenoir and a man named Marcus Cunningham were inside the car, which was registered to Cunningham. When officers approached, they noticed a gun and suspected criminal activity.
During the stop, Cunningham allegedly threw Lenoir the keys to the car. Lenoir refused to give the keys to police when they asked for them, which led to the 25-year-old being arrested on a count of resisting a peace officer.
A separate report from NBC Bay Area said Lenoir threw the car keys to a third person, who tried to keep them from police. That report states that Lenoir was charged with obstruction of justice.
Lenoir was booked into jail and released on Friday morning. He has a court date scheduled for July.
Lenoir, a fifth-round pick out of Oregon in 2021, has developed into one of San Francisco’s best defensive players. He signed a huge contract extension with the team midway through last season.
In 15 games last season, Lenoir had a career-high 85 total tackles, 2 interceptions and 9 passes defended. He has 6 interceptions in his NFL career.
