Whether or not you actually care about the game's outcome, Super Bowl LX gives us degens an excuse to wager on basically anything with a line affixed to it. Novelty bets are a fine way to participate if you're more casual or not as knowledgeable about the game itself but still want to get in on the betting action.
Let's check out my favorite novelty wagers for the New England Patriots vs. Seattle Seahawks on Super Sunday!
All odds are from DraftKings Sportsbook and are subject to change. DraftKings does not sponsor this content.
I pick tails every single time there's a coin toss in my life, which is admittedly almost never. If anyone is curious, tails has won eight of the last 12 opening flips in the Super Bowl. Make of that what you will.
On New England's side, you get Drake Maye, Stefon Diggs, Kayshon Boutte, Demario Douglas, Carlton Davis, Harold Landry, and Christian Gonzalez all as viable options. Seattle's side isn't nearly as favorable, with Demarcus Lawrence, Nick Emmanwori, Uchenna Nwosu, Coby Bryant, Kenneth Walker III, and Cooper Kupp as the only realistic options, unless we're going to see two backup QBs, kicker, or punter get a crack at the end zone. Given the plus-money odds and several reasonable options, why not take a flier?
Coaches tend to leave their most clever tricks in the bag for the Super Bowl, and we've seen a handful of these memorable moments through the years. At +150, why not take a chance that there's a pass from a halfback, receiver, or special teamer? You don't even need it to be completed!
Perhaps a more logical bet with some statistical backing, Shaheed's vertical nature makes him a worthy flier for anyone looking to gamble on a big play. He has the speed and role to pay off handsomely with these odds, but just don't get too carried away with how much you spend.
Doubling up on the Shaheed investment, his big-play nature makes for a rational wager here. Say he gets free in the open field, you can bet your booty he'll be racing at top speed. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the only other ball carrier I'm inclined to wager on for this prop, but Shaheed's versatility and New England not primarily focusing on him makes me lean this direction.
