The Green Bay Packers took an early lead against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday in AT&T Stadium. Running back Aaron Jones capped a 12-play, 75-yard drive with a three-yard touchdown run. The former fifth-round draft pick celebrated the first score of the game by tossing the ball to his twin brother, Alvin, in the stands.

Jones apparently knew exactly where he could find him and tossed the ball with Jordan Love-like accuracy. Alvin Jones also played his college football at UTEP before going to the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2018. The Packers have gone to Jones nine times for 27 yards and two scores in the first quarter. He tacked on another touchdown run after Dak Prescott threw an interception to Jaire Alexander. Jones had just two touchdown runs this season going into Sunday’s game.

The Cowboys and Packers are in a win-or-go-home situation and tied 4-4 in playoff series history. A 14-0 lead by Green Bay was the last thing Mike McCarthy wanted to see from his former team. The Cowboys entered the Wild Card matchup as seven-point favorites.

Watson, Alexander active for Packers

The Packers kept cornerback Jaire Alexander active for Sunday following an ankle sprain on Wednesday. Also active is wide receiver Christian Watson. Watson has dealt with a hamstring issue which sidelined him for over a month now. With a win-or-go-home situation, Green Bay will have the stars suited up.

Although Alexander and Watson are active, running back AJ Dillon, who is dealing with a neck/stinger injury, is out. Though he has slightly fewer yards than Aaron Jones, Dillon leads the Packers running backs this season in carries with 178.

The Cowboys had a potential need for their third quarterback, Trey Lance, this week, but second-string QB Cooper Rush is active after coming down with an illness. Also active is cornerback Stephon Gilmore. Gilmore is playing Sunday’s game with a shoulder brace.

In case Gilmore re-aggravates his shoulder injury during the game, the Cowboys activated cornerback Noah Igbinoghene for extra depth. Despite concern early in the week, left guard Tyler Smith is active. He tore the plantar fascia in his foot in Week 17 and sat out Week 18.
