This year has been, simply put, a disaster for the New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers.
The team currently has no locked-in coach, no general manager, and an uncertain future. One of the many uncertainties relies with the enigmatic (ahd loving it!) Rodgers.
Only time - and Aaron himself, maybe 0 will tell whether the Jets retain the aging veteran quarterback, and if Rodgers wants to be back.
One of the other uncertainties is whether Rodgers would go on one of his famed "darkness retreats" that made headlines in 2023. The darkness retreats simply featured Rodgers sitting in a specifically designed cabin in total darkness. No phone, television, light, or distraction.
Just Aaron Rodgers, surrounded by Aaron Rodgers' thoughts.
When Rodgers was this week asked about a potential return to the NFL and the Jets in 2025 via the retreats, he gave a smirking response.
"Probably darkness again," the QB said with a smile. "No, I think I'm done with that. I won't be doing any darkness retreats this offseason."
Rodgers followed up with a rough timeline of when decisions could be made. But first, he says he needs to step away.
"I need a break mentally," Rodgers said. "I don't want to make a decision until I've been able to rest mentally and physically… I just need a break to refresh, put my feet in the sand and see where I'm at after that."
"March is free agency, I don't think we're going to get that far because there's going to be a regime change here with the GM and then I'll either get a call or have a conversation and go from there," the veteran further offered.
The Jets will wrap up the season-to-forget on Sunday, taking on the Miami Dolphins at home at 4:25. The Jets will end the season at either an ugly 5-12 or an even uglier 4-13. .. and either way, then ... Darkness.
