All 17 Cowboys Games on National TV? 'It's Insanity, But ...!'
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

With a name like "America's Team," there's no wonder that the Dallas Cowboys have the largest fan base, are the most valuable NFL franchise and draw the most buzz.

The Cowboys open their season against the New York Giants on NBC's "Sunday Night Football," and color commentator Cris Collinsworth said it would be beneficial to the network to air every Dallas game in the coveted primetime slot.

"If NBC had their choice, we would do 17 Dallas Cowboys games. I'm not kidding," Collinsworth said on "The Dan Patrick Show" Monday. "It doesn't even matter what the record is. It doesn't matter. They could be 4-6 and we would take them. 'If you guys could pick any game you want this week, we'll take the Dallas Cowboys.' It's insanity, but it's true. They draw the ratings. They get it done."

Since the Tom Brady era in New England ended, the Cowboys reclaimed the spot for the most polarizing NFL team. Sports media personalities Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless dedicate whole blocks of their show to rag on Dallas because it gets the viewership.

Whether fans love them or hate them, they'll tune in.

Collinsworth said NBC tries to get Dallas in the "Sunday Night Football" slot "every opening night." He and Patrick got into a conversation about the 2023 Cowboys, and Collinsworth listed them as "an interesting story."

Collinsworth said the storylines he's watching are the offense without Kellen Moore, if Dak Prescott can cut down on his interceptions and, obviously, Micah Parsons. Those were just the ones he could think of at the time without doing any in-depth research.

"Look at me, I can't do this with any other team," Collinsworth said. "You can kind of go off the top of your head and go, 'Hey, Cowboys. I got them. I know what's going on with them.' It's craziness. The Cowboys continue to be 'America's Team,' and that is no lie."

The Cowboys will play in primetime six times this season and in their annual Thanksgiving 3:30 p.m. CT slot, so yeah, it is no lie.
