Cardinals' J.J. Watt: Texans 'not the same organization that I remember'

Three-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt spent his first 10 NFL seasons with the Houston Texans but mutually agreed to part ways with that organization in February. One reason Watt came to that decision is that he allegedly could see the writing on the wall regarding where the organization was headed. Watt ultimately put pen to paper on a contract with the Arizona Cardinals, a deal that's worked out rather well for all involved considering the Cardinals are a perfect 6-0 heading into Sunday's home game against the 1-5 Texans. 

Understandably, Watt discussed facing his former employer while speaking with reporters Thursday. 

"I don't think that it's what people may think it is because, I mean, you look at the roster and you look at the guys that are there, I mean it's been so massively turned over that there's only a handful of guys that are even there from last year that I played with," Watt said of the Texans, per Josh Weinfuss of ESPN. 

"So, it's not like, I'm like, 'Oh, I want to go and beat my old team' or 'Oh, I can't wait to face this guy,' because it's not the same team. It's not the same organization that I remember and that I was a part of." 

Watt added that it "hurts to know" Texans fans are "struggling" watching what inevitably will be a team with a losing record. 

"So, I hope that they get back there at some point and I hope that they get to do that because I know firsthand it's an unbelievable place to play when you're rolling," he continued about the Texans during his comments. 

Part of Houston's problems includes quarterback Deshaun Watson remaining a paid unused star each weekend as he wishes to be traded while facing 22 lawsuits alleging acts of sexual assault and misconduct and 10 criminal complaints. It's unclear if any team will match Houston's reported asking price of three first-round draft picks and three "additional assets" for Watson without knowing, for sure, that he won't be suspended or placed on the commissioner's exempt list later this season or next year.
