Former Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis is "expected" to make a formal return to the NFL this coming season as a member of Antonio Pierce's new staff with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Tom Pelissero reported the news as Lewis had been with the team in an unknown role aiding Pierce when he took over as interim coach this past season.
Lewis was the Bengals head coach from 2003-2018 and led the team to to five consecutive playoffs appearances (seven overall). Lewis will face the Bengals in Cincinnati next season if he joins the Raiders' staff.
