Why Bills' Stefon Diggs appreciates Josh Allen ahead of Giants game

Stefon Diggs of the Buffalo Bills appreciates the public support he received from quarterback Josh Allen following the latest incident involving the star wide receiver.

"Obviously, I'm thankful to have a quarterback who has my back and someone who understands, somebody who is out there, somebody who plays the game of football," Diggs told reporters Thursday, per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN. "For other people, it's hard for me to put it in words how much time and effort goes into football and how serious it is out there. When things aren't going right and you put a lot on yourself and you want more for yourself, you want more for your team."

Diggs most recently generated headlines when he slammed a tablet during last Sunday's 25-20 defeat against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London that dropped Buffalo to 3-2 on the season.

While Allen defended his teammate earlier this week and said Diggs "was mad at himself for running the wrong release on a route," the 29-year-old's actions brought to mind how he confronted the signal-caller during the club's home playoff loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in January.

That moment was followed by offseason drama regarding Diggs' alleged unhappiness with aspects of the offense and questions about his relationship with Allen, but the two repeatedly insisted before the campaign that everything between them was fine.

"I don't necessarily care about opinions," Diggs added during his comments. " I care about what matters most, and that's my teammates, my family, the people I hold close to my heart...For the people who draw unnecessary conclusions or things with negativity, I can't combat that with anything but, you don't know me on a personal level, and I try to keep it that way."

Diggs, Allen and the rest of the Bills should enjoy a "get-right" home matchup versus the 1-4 New York Giants this weekend. As of late Friday morning, OddsChecker listed the Bills as 14.5-point favorites for that "Sunday Night Football" game.
