The 2025 season is finally kicking off for the Washington Commanders, and it's time to think about real expectations for this year after a magical run last season.
The obvious goal is to always exceed what you did the previous season, and for the Commanders, that was coming up just one game short of a Super Bowl appearance. Can the Commanders actually get back to the NFC Championship and get over the final hump?
The odds are saying it's very possible, and that's enough for me to say yes, the Commanders will be going to the Super Bowl in 2025.
Every season in the NFL is completely different, and it doesn't matter what you did the year before. It's a clean slate for all 32 teams in the league. The one thing that does carry over is the Commanders having a true franchise quarterback in Jayden Daniels, and anything is possible when he's your guy, which includes a Super Bowl run.
The odds are out, and Vegas might just agree with that statement as well, as the Commanders have the 8th-best odds to win the Super Bowl according to Fanduel Sportsbook.

Having +2000 odds might seem like a stretch, but being up there with quarterback Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals shows that the Commanders are real contenders. We can debate about the teams ahead of the Commanders in odds, but Daniels and company will get to face a majority of them this season before the playoffs.
When you do make it to the NFC Championship game with your rookie quarterback leading the way, you have to take advantage and go all-in on the next offseason to improve the roster. That's exactly what Adam Peters did. Of course, they finally locked All-Pro WR Terry McLaurin in for a long-term extension, even though it took a while, but that was the top priority. Get Daniels his main weapon back.
Peters also did a lot of roster building during free agency and the NFL draft by trading for a premier left tackle in Laremy Tunsil and reunited with a familiar face in wide receiver Deebo Samuel. He made some quiet, sneaky free agency signings for the defense as well, like Javon Kinlaw, Von Miller, and Jacob Martin.
The Commander lacked quantity with picks in the NFL draft, but Peters made sure they got quality players with each selection, and just about every single one will be a major contributor this season in some way. Josh Conerly Jr will be the starting right tackle protecting Daniels, and WR Jaylin Lane is an underrated weapon who looks ready to break out as well. CB Trey Amos can be the steal of the draft, and will start on the outside opposite of a healthy Marshon Lattimore.
You showed last season that a Super Bowl run is very possible, and another offseason upgrading staple positions like offensive tackles, cornerbacks, and wide receivers will help boost the Commanders over the hump, and Daniels will lead the team to a Super Bowl win in 2025.
