Following their 20-17 Week 2 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of last season's Super Bowl, the Kansas City Chiefs have fallen to 0-2 on this young NFL season.

Aside from being bombarded with backlash about the team's slow start to the year, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has also had to address backlash due to shirts worn before Sunday's game.

A handful of players, headlined by All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce, wore shirts that read "Free 4," in reference to suspended wide receiver Rashee Rice.

This offseason, the 25-year-old wide receiver pled guilty to two third-degree felony charges, according to ESPN, with both charges centering around him racing on a highway and injuring others.

Many have deemed the shirt to be distasteful due to the harm that the accident caused, but Reid used it as an opportunity to showcase how popular Rice is within the locker room.

"I know these guys love Rashee and they feel for him sitting out here," Reid said via Charles Goldman. I think it's no more than that. Those guys love the kid and want him to feel part of it in their own way."

Kelce has yet to address the backlash, but given that it has become such a hot-button topic, he and his brother, Jason Kelce, may discuss it on an upcoming episode of "New Heights."

Along with being without Rice, the Chiefs were also without second-year receiver Xavier Worthy, who tore his labrum in a collision with Kelce in Week 1. There is still plenty of season, but the Chiefs are clearly feeling the absence of Rice.

The third-year pass catcher out of SMU missed all but four games last season after suffering a knee injury, but in 2023 racked up 79 catches for 938 yards and seven scores.

As for the Chiefs, they will take on the New York Giants on Sunday in a game that will air on NBC.
