Another NFL analyst disputes Joe Burrow’s ESPN Survey ranking

ESPN released a Survey ranking for the NFL this offseason, in which coaches, scouts, and executives ranked each position group in the league. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was named the No. 4 QB in the league and was already questioned for that ranking before. Now, another analyst is taking issue with Burrow’s spot in the Survey rankings.

During a segment on ESPN’s “First Take,” former NFL defensive end Chris Canty was confused about the 29-year-old signal-caller’s No. 4 ranking this offseason. Canty declared that because Burrow has missed about half of his games throughout his six-year career, it’s hard for him to agree with the Bengals star being ranked so high in the Survey rankings.

“I don’t understand why we still have this consensus around Joe Burrow being a top five quarterback,” Canty said. “I don’t get it. First of all, the best ability is availability. In two of the last three years, Joe Burrow has missed 2 months of the season. And it just so happens to coincide with the Cincinnati Bengals being on the outside looking in of the postseason in three straight years.

I’m tired of all of the Joe Burrow sick-o fans and all of the people that are in the excuse-making business for this dude… Joe Burrow has exactly what he wants. And guess what, it’s amounted to zero playoff wins for the Cincinnati Bengals over the last four years,” Canty continued… “I don’t understand how we’re giving Joe Burrow all of these kudos, all of these accolades, all of this praise for once upon a time making a Super Bowl that they just so happened to lose.”
