Antoine Winfield Jr. explains why he hit Tyreek Hill with peace sign

Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Antoine Winfield Jr. had the last laugh against Tyreek Hill after a 31-9 Super Bowl LV win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

In a Week 12 game against the Bucs, Hill finished with 269 yards and three touchdowns. At the end of a 75-yard touchdown in that game, Hill flashed his signature peace sign toward Winfield Jr. as he crossed the goal line

During Super Bowl LV, the Bucs defense held Hill to seven catches for 73 yards.

Winfield Jr. hit Hill with the peace sign after a fourth-down incompletion intended for the wide receiver. Officials flagged the 22-year-old for taunting, but it appears he thought the penalty was well worth it.

“The taunting, man, it’s something I just had to do,” Winfield said, according to Pro Football Talk. “When we played them earlier, Hill went off on us. He back-flipped in front of my face and gave me the peace sign. So it was only right that I gave him the peace sign right back to him. It felt amazing to do that. I’m not even gonna lie.”

Winfield Jr. finished the game with six tackles, one interception and two pass breakups. He'll likely be fined for taunting Hill, but that's the least of his concerns after winning the Super Bowl.
