Atlanta Falcons: By the Numbers
Dale Zanine-Imagn Images

It’s a numbers game.

Three Dog Night said it best, “one is the loneliest number that you’ll ever do.”

What's in a number anyway? Today we examine a few with our beloved Atlanta Falcons.

1

That’s the amount of times Bijan Robinson fumbled a season ago on 308 rushing attempts. For contrast, Rhamondre Stevenson on roughly 100 less carries, coughed up the rock a total of 7 times, leading the NFL.

5

This will be Kyle Pitts fifth season and to me, he’s the key to the future success this offense will have in 2025.

I’d love to believe that Penix’s first career TD to Pitts is an omen of good things to come. The rookie year of 68 grabs and over 1000 yards receiving needs to resurface. The question is, will it? If Pitts returns to form, expect him to resign for many years to come.

7

Yes, it’s been well chronicled that it’s now been 7 long seasons without a playoff berth. You’d have to go back all the way to the early 80’s to find a comparable streak. After reaching the postseason during the strike shortened season of 82’ the Falcons wouldn’t reach the playoffs again until 1991 under Jerry Glanville.

14

That’s the amount of total playoff appearances in the Falcons’ 59 year history. Yes, Bijan Robinson had more rushing TD’s last season (15) than the Falcons have had playoff runs. The tide might be turning though.

105

Sounds like a big number, but it’s not. That’s the amount of attempts Michael Penix Jr. has made thus far as the Falcons signal caller. Matt Ryan during his career had almost 8,500. Yet, the Falcons are treating Penix Jr. as QB1 in every manner.
