Azeez Ojulari put Vic Fangio on notice after stellar Eagles debut in Broncos loss

It was a frustrating first four weeks for Philadelphia Eagles fans and edge rusher Azeez Ojulari with no one really knowing what was going on.

Ojulari was inactive in each of the first four games with very little explanation about why. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni chalked it up to best matchups with the players they have. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio mentioned special teams as part of the reason.

After unfortunate injuries to Nolan Smith Jr. and Ogbo Okoronkwo, Ojulari was finally forced to be active and help with the depth of the edge position against the Denver Broncos. He certainly made the most of his opportunity.

Ojulari finished with three tackles, one quarterback hit, and one tackle for loss, playing 46% of the defensive snaps. PFF gave him an impressive overall grade of 71.9. His performance wasn't enough, as the Eagles blew a 14-point lead and lost to the Broncos 21-17.

Many heads were turned with Ojulari's play, including Fangio

During Fangio's press conference on Tuesday, he was asked about Ojulari's play in the Broncos. Fangio was very complimentary to Ojulari.

"He made some nice plays out there for a guy that hadn't played at all in the regular season. So that was encouraging."

This is an encouraging sign for Ojulari, who showed Eagles fans what they were waiting to see out of him. That speed off the edge and the ability to pressure the quarterback like he did with the New York Giants the last four years was on full display.

Especially on a short week and a little extra motivation, the Giants' Thursday night game certainly has a different feel for Ojulari. He's got something to prove to the team that did not re-sign him.

Watch for Ojulari to have the ultimate revenge that most people believe Saquon Barkley would have instead.
