Colston Loveland played a major role in the Chicago Bears’ wild card win over the Green Bay Packers. The rookie tight end caught eight passes in the game for a season-high 137 yards to help lead Chicago to an NFL playoff victory over their NFC North rivals.

Loveland kept his foot on the gas on Sunday as the Bears faced the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round. The former Michigan Wolverines star logged four receptions for a team-high 56 yards. It wasn’t enough, though, as Chicago suffered a season-ending loss in overtime, 20-17.

To make matters worse, Loveland suffered an injury against the Rams, forcing the 21-year-old to miss the closing stages of the game.

Loveland reeled in a pass from quarterback Caleb Williams with 1:45 left in the fourth quarter for an 18-yard gain. The rookie, however, took a blow to the head in the process, forcing him to exit the game.

The Bears later announced that Loveland was being evaluated for a concussion. He was unable to return and missed the entire overtime period.

After the game, Chicago head coach Ben Johnson announced that Loveland has been diagnosed with a concussion. Johnson did not provide the full details of Loveland’s head injury, but he will now be placed under the league’s concussion protocol.

Loveland, the 10th overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, had a memorable first season with the Bears. He played 16 games in the regular season (11 starts), producing 58 catches for 713 yards and six TDs.

The Bears have been eliminated from the playoffs, and their championship dream is over. The Rams will proceed to the next round, where they will face the Seattle Seahawks in the conference championship game next Sunday.
