Caleb Williams was a superstar long before he joined the Chicago Bears as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
A native of Washington, D.C., he starred for the football team at Gonzaga College High School. One of the biggest highlights of his high school career was leading his team to a WCAC Championship as a sophomore. He was named Gatorade Football Player of the Year after throwing for 2,624 yards and 26 touchdowns.
Williams committed to the University of Oklahoma in 202 as the highest-rated quarterback in his class. He entered the transfer portal in 2022 and later joined USC, where he played for two seasons. Williams won the Heisman Trophy in 2022, prompting the program to retire his No. 13 jersey two years later.
Now that he’s a bona fide NFL star, the Bears QB makes it a point to give back to the youth. He knows how important it is to have a strong foundation for young football hopefuls, and he’s doing what he can to help out.
The 24-year-old runs the Caleb Williams Elite Team, which is an 8th-grade football squad in the DMV. This initiative aims to help talented and motivated kids tap into their true potential.
On Thursday, the Bears star took to social media to share some exciting news. Williams shared a post from the team announcing that the tryouts for the 2026 team are officially open.

It is unclear whether Williams will travel to Maryland for a personal appearance at the tryouts. However, he will definitely support the kids in whatever way he can.
As for his football, Williams is heading into a pivotal third season with the Bears. He took his game to a whole new level in Year 2. More is expected of him as he enters the 2026 campaign.
Williams led Chicago to the Divisional Round last season, and the fans are hoping for an even deeper run this coming year.
