Bears targeting Seahawks QB Russell Wilson?

Earlier this week, Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace told reporters "everything is on the table in regards to the quarterback situation" as he looks for an upgrade at the position.

According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, "everything" may include prioritizing trading for unsettled Seattle Seahawks signal-caller Russell Wilson.

This isn't entirely surprising, as the Bears have previously been linked with Wilson and wantaway Houston Texans starter Deshaun Watson in trade rumors. Recently, Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who shares an agent with Watson, told the "Huddle & Flow" podcast that the Houston QB is "extremely serious" about demanding a trade and never again playing for the Texans.

A problem for the Bears and every other front office potentially coveting Wilson and/or Watson as winter turns to spring is the asking price. Seattle reportedly wants three first-round draft picks and other assets for Wilson. The Texans might demand the same, if not more, because Watson is signed through 2025 and turns 26 years old right around Week 1 of the 2021 season.

Ryan Fitzpatrick and 2020 Comeback Player of the Year Alex Smith are two veterans available in free agency, but they are merely bridge options and not the long-term answer Pace wants to acquire either before or during the NFL Draft that kicks off on April 29.
