Bengals 2025 Roster Breakdown: Jamoi Mayes looking to stay in Cincinnati after brief stint with Bearcats

Mayes enters his first season in the NFL and with the Bengals after going undrafted during the 2025 NFL Draft. He spent four years at Chattanooga before transferring to Cincinnati during his final season of college ball. He followed up 128 receptions, 2,022 yards, and nine touchdowns in 38 games (26 starts) for the Mocs with 29 receptions, 349 yards and one TD in 12 games for the Bearcats.

Contract Details

Mayes signed a three-year, $2.968 million college free agent deal with the Bengals this offseason. He's already earned a $3,000 signing bonus and can make $840,000 as a base salary this season. His potential cash earnings for the year amounts to $843,000, and his salary cap hit is $841,000.

Roster Outlook

No one on Cincinnati's roster has a longer play from this preseason entering Saturday's finale than Mayes. The rookie receiver hauled in a 48-yard bomb from another former Bearcat Desmond Ridder earlier this month against the Philadelphia Eagles. It's also been the only time he's touched the ball outside of practice.

Like all three undrafted wideouts on the offseason roster, Mayes had an incredible challenge in front of him making this 53-man squad. It's probably not in the cards for him or any of the others, especially after Mitchell Tinsley essentially locked up a roste r spot to round out the group.
