Bengals Sign Free Agent Quarterback Ahead Of NFL Draft

Joe Burrow clearly holds the keys to the Bengals' high-powered offense, but the team is reportedly bringing a familiar face back to its quarterback room.

After agreeing to a combined $276 million in extensions for wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins this offseason , the franchise still has some decisions to make on players like Trey Hendrickson. However, Cincinnati has saw fit to invest even more on that side of the ball.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Bengals are re-signing QB Logan Woodside — although no terms of the deal have been disclosed.

Woodside was a seventh-round pick of the team back in 2018 out of Toledo, but was cut during the preseason. He went on to briefly play in the AAF before making his NFL regular season debut with the Titans during the COVID year.

Since then he's appeared in 13 National Football League games where he's completed 4-of-7 passes for 34 yards and a pick while also carrying the ball 14 times for a total of 10 yards.

Woodside came back to the Bengals last year, but didn't see the field as he was behind Burrow and Jake Browning on the depth chart.

As far as other players on the roster, teams around the league are rumored to be watching the Trey Hendrickson saga very "closely," per the Washington Post's Jason La Canfora.

"[Trust] me, the rest of the league is watching closely," the insider said. "According to several NFL executives who have gauged the Bengals trade interest on Hendrickson, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they are not permitted to publicly discuss players under contract to another team, the Bengals want first-round value for the veteran if they do deal him. Numerous teams have dangled mid-round picks but to no avail."

We'll see what ultimately ends up happening with Hendrickson. But Cincy's offensive personnel is pretty much set nine days out from the NFL Draft.
