Bengals’ Zac Taylor sends confident message following shocking Joe Flacco news before Packers game
Packers aim to avoid unwanted Week 6 scenario against Joe Flacco not seen in over six decades 1  Flacco (15) reacts after an offensive penalty was called in the red zone during the second half of an NFL football game against Green Bay at Huntington Bank Field, Sept. 21, 2025, in Cleveland, Ohio.

It’s a new chapter again for veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, who is now with the Cincinnati Bengals after getting traded there from the Cleveland Browns. He lands in Cincy along with a 2026 pick in the sixth round, while the Browns received a pick in the fifth round in 2026.

Flacco doesn’t have a lot of time to familiarize himself with his new teammates, new environment and a new playbook, but Bengals head coach Zac Taylor is counting on him to deliver this coming Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

One thing going for Flacco at least is that he’s seen the Packers on the field already this season, having helped the Cleveland Browns pull off an upset 13-10 win in Week 3 over Jordan Love and company.

Bengals’ Taylor shares his thoughts on Flacco after Cincinnati’s unexpected QB trade with Cleveland

The Bengals made the trade for Flacco, knowing that the quarterback is way past his prime. But they apparently think highly of him enough to take the reins of the offense from Jake Browning and give it to someone who is about to turn 41 years old in January.

“Joe is an experienced quarterback with a history of winning,” Taylor said of Flacco during a press release on Tuesday (h/t Zach Kruse of Packers Wire). “He is a leader with a skill set that will fit our personnel well. He is a gifted passer with a strong arm, and we are excited to have him on our team.”

Cincinnati can see what it has in Flacco as soon as this coming Sunday when they visit the Packers at Lambeau Field.

Flacco doesn’t have numbers in 2025 that jump off the page, as he only has 815 passing yards with two touchdowns and six interceptions, while completing only 58.1 percent of his throws.

But with the Bengals, Flacco has better overall weapons downfield, particularly the 1-2 punch of
Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
