Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane announced Friday afternoon defensive linemen Larry Ogunjobi and Michael Hoecht will be suspended for the first six games of the NFL regular season as a result of the unauthorized use of performance enhancing drugs.
The players will be with the team through training camp and the preseason, but will not be allowed in the training facility for the first six weeks of the regular season.
Beane admitted to reporters he would not have signed the two free agents if he knew beforehand they were going to miss a bulk of the season. He added, however, that they will figure it out.
Beane said by the time he found out about Ogunjobi's suspension, he had already agreed to terms with the team. The Bills signed Ogunjobi to a one-year deal worth $8.3 million with $8 million guaranteed. Due to the suspension, the salary is no longer guaranteed.
The signing of Ogunjobi was already ranked by The 33rd Team as one of the ten worst signings during this free agency cycle.
Hoecht, 27, broke into the league in 2020 as an undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Rams. The Brown University graduate was cut at the end of training camp, but was signed to their practice squad. In 2024, Hoecht recorded 56 tackles and had three sacks in 17 games for the Rams.
Hoecht re-signed with the Rams last season as a restricted free agent. This was the first time Hoecht got to experience free agency.
