Bills Could Reunite Josh Allen With 183-Catch Former Captain
Brian Fluharty-USA TODAY Sports

After a one-year hiatus, the Josh Allen and Gabe Davis combo could be back on for the Buffalo Bills.

Davis, who played for Buffalo from 2020-23, will reportedly meet with the Bills on Wednesday. The sixth-year wideout has a Tuesday visit planned with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who previously spoke to the 6-foot-2, 225-pound Davis.

Jacksonville parted ways with the 26-year-old Davis earl ier this year, one season into a three-year, $39 million contract. Davis recorded 20 catches for 239 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games for the Jaguars before suffering a left knee injury.

Could Gabe Davis rejoin Josh Allen on the Buffalo Bills?

Davis quickly made his impact felt upon joining the Bills, hauling in 35 catches for 599 yards and seven touchdowns during the 2020 COVID season. Although Davis never topped 1,000 yards in Buffalo, he emerged as one of Allen’s most reliable targets, snagging 163 balls for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns in 64 games (47 starts) for the AFC East’s latest powerhouse.

However, Davis is perhaps best known for his incredible AFC Divisional Round performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in January 2022. Davis and Allen teamed up for eight catches, 201 yards , and four touchdowns in a heartbreaking 42-36 overtime loss.

Davis’ potential arrival comes at a time when the Bills need receiver depth. Bills receiver Khalil Shakir, who broke out for 76 catches and 821 yards last year, is battling an ankle injury. Buffalo placed Jalen Virgil (hamstring) on the injured list last week.

The Bills also signed ex-Miami Dolphins receiver Grant Dubose on Tuesday morning. Dubose, a 2023 seventh-round pick of the Green Bay Packers, had two catches for 11 yards in three games for Miami.

Buffalo opens its season against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Sept. 7.
