The Buffalo Bills' defense was in the bottom half of the league in 2024 in terms of yards allowed, so that was the area that the team went into the offseason looking to focus on.
And it has worked out nicely.
In a recent article by Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport, he ranks every defense in the league following the 2025 NFL Draft. Cracking into the top three, he has the Bills ranked at No. 3.
"The Bills were already well set-up defensively, whether it was Greg Rousseau outside, an excellent trio of linebackers in Matt Milano, Terrel Bernard and Dorian Williams or a defensive backfield that includes one of the NFL’s pre-eminent slot players in cornerback Taron Johnson," Davenport writes. "Defensive lapses have long haunted the Bills in the postseason. But this squad could be the one that finally puts Buffalo over the top—and into the Super Bowl."
The most notable addition the team made was Pro Bowl edge rusher Joey Bosa, who they signed to a one-year, $12.6 million deal in free agency. The team also made some improvements to their secondary.
The Bills selected Kentucky cornerback Maxwell Hairston with the 30th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to improve their defense over the top. They allowed the ninth-most passing yards in the league in 2024, so an addition like that was in the team's best interests.
Buffalo has been searching for that first Lombardi Trophy for a long time, but the defense will be hoping they can help lead the team to their first ever Super Bowl win.
