Once again, despite Josh Allen's best efforts, the Buffalo Bills fell short when it mattered the most.
General manager Brandon Beane failed to address the team's glaring need for a top-tier pass catcher, and it ultimately cost head coach Sean McDermott his job.
Now, with several high-end options potentially up for grabs, he'll have to right that wrong.
That's why he's reportedly set to make a run at Rashid Shaheed and Romeo Doubs, according to ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler.
"Rival teams expect Buffalo to strongly address wide receiver in the coming weeks," Fowler revealed. "And multiple league executives are linking Rashid Shaheed or Romeo Doubs to the Bills. Alec Pierce will most likely be out of their price range."
Shaheed might want to run it back with the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks or follow offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak to the Las Vegas Raiders.
He's a big-play specialist who can also contribute to special teams, but he's not the type of alpha pass-catcher the Bills need.
Doubs, on the other hand, has shown flashes of being a primary weapon in the Green Bay Packers' stacked wide receiver corps, so he might be a better fit in Buffalo.
Despite having one of the best quarterbacks in the game, the Bills ranked 15th in the league with 216.6 passing yards per game.
Khalil Shakir led the team with 719 receiving yards, and he was one of just two pass catchers to top 500 yards last season (Dalton Kincaid, 514). No Bill caught more than five touchdown passes, and adding some help at the position should be their primary concern this offseason.
