It was looming as a big offseason for Buffalo Bills receiver Keon Coleman, and it appears he's gotten the message.
After a rookie year that was up and down due to injury and poor form, Keon knew he had to take his game up a level in 2025.
Through the offseason, he's done just that and as training camp continues, Coleman is now putting consistent days of practice together as he looks to potentially develop into Josh Allen's go-to guy.
And for head coach Sean McDermott, Keon's having some sort of camp.
“Growth for sure,” McDermott said on what he's seen from Coleman. “We were working the fringe 35 (yards) and in, and he really showed up. Since then, he's been performing rather consistently every day. Had a few drops the other night that I know he wants back and he knows he's got to get them out of his game and there's going to be drops, there are for everyone right no one nobody's perfect.
"But what I've been mostly impressed with is his consistency on the contested balls, and we're working the low red zone, and he laid a heck of a block on somebody in there, and I thought that was very impressive as well.”
That will be music to Bills Mafia's ears.
Coleman showed glimpses last year, and with Buffalo not having anyone who can win down the field, Keon had to be that guy. Now, he has help in the form of Joshua Palmer, and Coleman is beginning to establish himself in the pecking order.
Granted, we want to see it with real NFL bullets flying, but Coleman's offseason is beginning to pick up steam. The loss of Khalil Shakir is a big downer, but Keon could be the other who steps up for the slot star and becomes the leading weapon for the offense.
