Brian Thomas Jr. met with the media this week about his continuing growth and taking on more responsibilities with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The former LSU star was the 23rd pick in the 2024 NFL draft. He was named to the Pro Bowl and won Offensive Rookie of the Month in December and January. Thomas was also a finalist for the Rookie of the Year award which was presented to his LSU Tigers teammate Jayden Daniels.
Thomas talked about the significance of being a leader on this team and embracing the role in only his second season. He said, “Yeah, that’s super important for me. That’s one of my goals: to become a better leader and be there for my teammates when they need me. That’s super important for me.”
Brian also spoke about the necessity of building chemistry with his quarterback, Trevor Lawrence. “It’s been good. Getting to know each other, out here spending time with each other, staying after practice and getting some extra throws in to have that chemistry with each other. It’s been super good to be able to bond with each other,” said Thomas Jr.
Lawrence missed seven of the final eight games in 2024 but Thomas said they continue to work and get more familiar with each other all the time. “I definitely feel like it’s growing each and every day, each and every practice. I feel like we’re all just coming out here to be the best that we can be and we’re all just coming out here to get better. So, it’s going to grow,” said Thomas Jr.
