Brief Breakdown of Dolphins’ Preseason Schedule

As hard as it is to believe, the Miami Dolphins’ three-game preseason stint is right around the corner. Of course, preseason football isn’t all that meaningful or monumental, but in just a few weeks, fans will be treated to the team for the first time in months.

This new era of the Dolphins franchise under head coach Jeff Hafley and general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan will unofficially commence with a preseason bout against the Washington Commanders on Aug. 14. Miami’s first preseason game will be a road one for the team as well and in the unfriendly territory of Northwest Stadium.

Just over one week after kicking off their preseason schedule in Maryland, the Dolphins will then travel home to Hard Rock Stadium for an Aug. 22 game against the New York Giants, who notably hired a new head coach in John Harbaugh. That’ll be a somewhat early Saturday game for fans to tune into, with it scheduled to be a 4:00 PM EST start.

Last but not least, Miami will wrap up its cup of tea in the preseason with another home matchup — this time against the Atlanta Falcons — on Aug. 28. Atlanta made some noise late in the 2025 campaign with a 4-0 finish and wins over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Rams in that span.

Then by the time the preseason is all said and done, the meaningful football will be right around the corner, as the Dolphins are set to begin their season in Las Vegas versus the Raiders on Sept. 13. Hopefully, Miami’s preseason schedule will prove to prepare it for the long road that lies ahead in the regular season, as the Dolphins’ schedule is universally believed to be one of the NFL’s toughest. Their strength of schedule is the second-toughest in the league, and they’ll be playing several premier teams from a season ago (Patriots, Bills, Broncos, etc.).
