One significant player not participating in Sunday’s practice for the Las Vegas Raiders is All-Pro tight end Brock Bowers, though no reason given yet.
Bowers has been a no-show at Raiders practice today. ESPN’s Ryan McFadden reported no sign of the Pro Bowl tight end on the field and confirmed he was joined by Tonka Hemingway and Carter Runyon among the absences. Sam Warren echoed the report, also failing to spot Bowers.
The team hasn’t given an injury designation, explanation, or comment yet.
Bowers enters 2026 as the unquestioned centerpiece of Las Vegas’ offense. He’s reportedly looked dominant throughout camp after a knee injury limited him for stretches of his second season. Any absence, even a precautionary one, draws attention given recent history. He’s also a foundational piece of the Raiders’ long-term cap plans as one of the league’s best young tight ends, so keeping him healthy and on the field matters far beyond a single practice.
On the depth chart, his absence shifts more reps to Michael Mayer. He’s been showing real growth this camp, along with Albert Okwuegbunam and Ian Thomas. That’s a manageable stopgap for a practice. Still, it’s not a group anyone wants leaning on for real.
Given it’s still camp season and there’s no reported injury yet, the situation feels like a planned rest day or a minor bump more than anything serious, though the Raiders’ history with Bowers and knee issues means it’s worth confirming before assuming it’s nothing.
What do you think? Is this a routine veteran rest day, or is there more to this?
