The Denver Broncos are undefeated, and the defense looks in midseason form. The Broncos made life difficult for the No. 1 overall pick, Cam Ward, sacking him six times. The scene was electric at Empower Field at Mile High. Nix, leading the offense, finished his day going 25 for 40 with 176 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions while losing a fumble.
Nix delivered a powerful statement that should have Broncos Country excited about the future with QB1, giving a blunt response about his performance. He was a class act through and through — exactly what you want to hear from your franchise quarterback after a performance like this, despite the victory.
"Got a lot to learn from, got a lot to grow from, which is good," Nix said. "First game of the season, you're going to have some hiccups. But you know, it starts with me, I've got to do a much better job, play better. I feel like I'm always going to say that."

Nix turning the ball over multiple times cannot happen, and he was candid about it throughout his press conference immediately after the contest. He showed he's a true leader by owning up to his mistakes and acknowledging that he needs to be better with some of his decision-making.
"You don't ever want to throw interceptions, but when you do, as tough as it is, you just have to move on and respond with positive plays," Nix said. "Both times I thought I had decent vision, it was just 50/50, didn't go our way. Probably shouldn't have thrown both of them, and you know you live and you learn. Sometimes you can be a little too aggressive, and I was too aggressive. You know, I just ultimately gotta be smarter than that and take care of the football. Especially with our defense, as well as they're going to play this year, can't put them in bad spots."
When asked about his approach to the turnovers, Nix offered some introspection on what makes him tick. The talented signal-caller broke down his mindset behind the mistakes.
"I think I'm tougher on myself now because I know better. I've had some experience, and I've had, you know, what not to do," Nix said. "Every year in my career, I've thrown a pick, probably. As much as I'm going to try in the future, I probably am going to throw one every year. Just gotta limit them and hopefully I'll stay at two for a while."
Gushing about the defense, Nix made sure to give his teammates their flowers, pointing out a specific moment in the game that seemed to turn the tide in the Broncos' favor.
"It's the best feeling when you got a great defense. Just over and over, they got us out of a jam and continued to do that throughout the game," Nix said. "The one that really sticks out is they get the ball, down one, and we get two sacks and get them out of field goal range. That'll change the game in a hurry and change the environment, get guys back into the game, and it was just awesome to see. Different players making big plays."
Despite the ugly performance on offense, a win is a win, and those are incredibly difficult to get in the NFL. It's no secret that defense won this game, but Nix did do enough to help secure the win. Football is back, and it's an exciting time to be a fan of the Denver Broncos.
