The Denver Broncos have been preaching culture and community — the importance of both within a roster. Head coach Sean Payton looks to have turned the tables in Denver, bringing back their winning ways with a second-year quarterback and a dominant defense ready to take the league by storm.
However, before playing even a single snap, they have an MVP on their roster, and it's not from the usual suspects either. Broncos offensive lineman Garrett Bolles was named the Week 1 NFLPA Community MVP with the work he and his wife, Natalie, are doing with the new Bjorem & Bolles Apraxia Education Initiative Training Center in Colorado. The couple funded the project as their vision struck close to home, with their son Kingston, who is impacted by the neurological disorder.

Bolles and his wife unveiled the center in August with the help of speech-language pathologist Jennie Bjorem. As the Denver Broncos reported, it's a "first-of-its-kind facility" that was created to help educators better diagnose childhood apraxia of speech. Bolles opened up about what the new center meant to him during the center's unveiling in late August.
"This has just been a long process that we've brainstormed with a lot of people across the country to be able to open up a training center for special education teachers to be able to learn more about apraxia," Bolles said. "My son, Kingston, being a kid with apraxia, it's been a very difficult time for me and my wife the last couple years to find someone to help my kid learn how to talk. I never realized, being a Denver Bronco, and having this amazing state to be a part of and this amazing fan base, that I'd have one of the most renowned speech therapists 20 minutes from my home. Just being able to connect with her and becoming family with her and the love we have for her and what she's done to help Kingston. We talked about it so many times to be able to open a training center and teach so many teachers just like herself to be able to apply [skills] to so many kids and be able to change as many kids' lives as possible."
It's not just Sean Payton who preaches the importance of culture and community. The official announcement shared a few goals for the Bjorem & Bolles center with hands-on training for SLPs, family education and support, and a community hub. The center's emphasis on the idea that it takes a village — and the importance of community and connecting with others — is another example of why he was the perfect fit for the Week 1 MVP.
Congrats to @gbolles72 on being named our first #CommunityMVP of the season after he & his wife personally funded the new Bjorem & Bolles Training Center, a first-of-its-kind facility designed to support kids with apraxia in finding their voice.

"This passion project hits home for the Bolles family, whose son Kingston was diagnosed with childhood apraxia, which is a motor speech disorder where the brain has trouble coordinating the muscle movements needed to speak. Established through the GB3 Foundation and I Am King Initiative, this center is a first-of-its-kind facility dedicated to training speech-language pathologists in the assessment and treatment of childhood apraxia of speech."
Bolles signed a massive four-year contract extension in December of 2024, keeping the longest-tenured member of the team locked up through the 2028 season. Broncos Country has to be thrilled not only to have him as part of the organization but also as part of their community.
