The Denver Broncos announced today that they would be signing long snapper Mitchell Fraboni to a three-year deal worth $4.175 million. Frabroni has been the starting long snapper for two consecutive seasons for the Broncos and is now locked up for three more.
Fraboni joined the Broncos back during the 2022 season, and after that season,n he became the team's full-time long snapper. Fraboni is 28 years old but has only been in the NFL for three years. He has made very minimal mistakes, and he is mastering his craft and getting better every year.
Fraboni went to Arizona State in college, where he played defensive end and long snapper, and he would eventually go undrafted in 2020. In 2021, he would try out for the Houston Texans but would not make the team and end up going to play in the USFL with the Pittsburgh Maulers.
He did so well in the USFL that the Broncos signed him during the 2022 season, and the rest is history. The 6'2, 223-pound long snapper has been getting better every season, and he does possess pro bowl level talent at the long snapper position.
Fraboni has recorded 16 tackles and one forced fumble in his three years with the Broncos. This is great when you think about the fact that this has all come from special teams, and it shows that Fraboni is learning how to be a playmaker in his role.
Guys who can figure out how to be a star in their role are the type of guys that are great to have in the locker room and around the organization. There are three fazes of football, and special teams are just as important as the others.
The Broncos seem to have a key special teams guy locked up for a few years now, and if he can continue to make plays on special teams, then they may have themselves a future Pro Bowl caliber player.
