After an impressive 2024 season that defied expectations, the Denver Broncos are a team on the rise. Their 10-7 finish was the team’s best since 2015, when the Broncos went on to win the Super Bowl, and though their playoff excursion ended with a Wildcard loss to the Bills, things are looking up in Denver.
The Broncos enter the 2025 season with big hopes in-house. The defense was one of the best units in the NFL last season, and there’s every chance they’ve improved with the additions of Dre Greenlaw, Talanoa Hufanga, and Jahdae Barron, and the offense will continue to grow with second-year quarterback Bo Nix under center. Even in a tough AFC West, the Broncos will be hoping to ascend, and one former Broncos legend holds tremendously high hopes for 2025.
In an interview with Denver7 Sports, Terrell Davis, who won two Super Bowls with the Broncos, plainly laid out his expectations for the team in 2025.
"I've been hearing Super Bowl talk a lot around here, and it kind of reminds me of my team back in 1995 where my rookie season we went 8-8, and internally we felt like we were really good," says Davis via Denver7 Sports. "The next year we went 13-3. We took a huge jump. We added some players, but it was the confidence in that room that made it feel like we were a better team than an 8-8 record — and we knew it."
Comparing this Broncos team to a team that went on to win back-to-back Super Bowls in 1997 and 1998 is a big claim, but Davis obviously believes in the state of this Broncos team, so much so that he believes their ceiling in 2025 is tremendously high.
“Anything short of a Super Bowl would be a disappointment for them,” Davis told reporters.
Before the 2024 season, the Broncos hadn’t made a playoff appearance since their Super Bowl win in 2015, but the fast ascent of this feels real to Davis and plenty of appreciators across the league.
