When he chose to play, the NFL world was rather shocked.
Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku suffered facial burns and body burns during an at-home incident. He recently discussed the event on the Borwns' Instagram.
The rather graphic video shows the extent of the burns Njoku suffered, and the 27-year-old went into detail about exactly how everything happened.
"I ran out of my normal lighter fluid that I use to soak the wood, so I used this other one. It was a spray instead of one that you pour," Njoku said. "When I lit it up, it just exploded. I saw the fire come from my wrist and just blow up in my face. I didn't really feel the pain because it just happened so fast."
The gnarly burns didn't hold Njoku back. He played for the Browns against the Baltimore Ravens in early October. He wore a face covering throughout the game, but the fact that he was out on the field speaks to the level of toughness the tight end possesses.
"Your mindset, your mentality is everything," he said. "The body will follow the mind at the end of the day. So whatever your mind tells your body to do, it will do no matter what. So I really took that to heart."
It is clear Njoku is in a league of his own when it comes to overcoming pain.
