Browns Get Bold Trade Suggestion That Could Change Everything

The Cleveland Browns have more bodies at wide receiver than they have in a long time, and that extra depth is already fueling talk that veteran Jerry Jeudy could be on the move this fall.

Bleacher Report listed Jeudy among the league’s top trade targets in its first “Big Board” of the 2026 season, projecting the return as a conditional 2027 fourth-round pick. The site pointed to Cleveland’s earlier deal that sent Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams as proof the front office is willing to cash in established players for future assets.

“The Cleveland Browns made one for-the-future move when they dealt Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams. They could make another—albeit with a much smaller return—by trading away wide receiver Jerry Jeudy. The Browns used early draft picks on wide receivers K.C. Concepcion and Denzel Boston, which could push Jeudy out of the long-term plan,” they wrote.

“Jeudy had a down year in 2025, along with the rest of the Browns’ offense. However, he was a Pro Bowler in 2024 and is still only 27 years old. He should interest receiver-needy teams, and his $1.5 million base salary for 2026 is extremely team-friendly.”

Jeudy, 27, put up career highs in 2024 after the Browns acquired him from Denver, catching 90 passes for 1,229 yards and four touchdowns. That production earned him his first Pro Bowl nod.

Last season looked nothing like it. He finished with 50 receptions for 602 yards and two scores, along with 10 drops, while the Browns fielded the NFL’s worst offense and struggled badly at quarterback and on the offensive line.

Those numbers do not fall entirely on Jeudy. Still, coaches and observers noted lapses in focus and effort that made the drop-off harder to ignore.

Cleveland signed him to a three-year, $52.5 million extension after the trade two years ago. A later restructure slashed his cap number, leaving the Browns on the hook for most of his 2026 money and giving them leverage if they shop him.

His base salary this year sits at just $1.5 million, a figure that makes him attractive to clubs hunting for help at receiver without taking on a massive immediate hit. There is also an out in the deal after this season.

The Browns already cut veteran Cedric Tillman last month after drafting Concepcion and Boston and watching second-year player Isaiah Bond take a step forward. That group has created real competition for snaps.

Coach Todd Monken has already shifted Jeudy out of the X receiver spot in favor of Boston. Asked whether the change amounted to a demotion, Monken said: “I don’t see it that way, and (Jerry Jeudy) didn’t see it that way as far as I understand. In his mind, I think he believes he’s better on the move, and he could see what we could do with him moving him around and keeping him in motion.”

He added: “I just view it as we’re trying to put the pieces where we can best allow us to function offensively. I really don’t care who plays X or who plays Z. … We just thought Denzel’s skill set gave us some things there that Jerry’s didn’t, and Jerry’s skill set playing off the ball allowed us to really maximize his skill set.”

Team reporter Tony Grossi of The Land on Demand has been saying much the same for weeks.

“I’m a fan of Jerry Jeudy. Despite some bad optics last season, I think he’s an elite route-runner, an above-average pass-catcher and a good teammate,” Grossi said. “His drops need to be reduced, of course. Now, from what I’ve seen of [Denzel] Boston and [KC] Concepcion, Jeudy could be a real trade chip played by GM Andrew Berry at the November 10 deadline, if not earlier.”

The Athletic’s Zac Jackson went further this week, writing that “Jerry Jeudy’s NFL future is almost certainly not with the Browns.”

General manager Andrew Berry had previously called Jeudy “our bell cow” and insisted the draft picks would have “zero impact” on him. Those comments now sit alongside a crowded receiver room and a roster that looks built more for 2027 than a playoff run this fall.

Receiver-needy teams such as the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs have been mentioned as possible landing spots. Whether Cleveland actually pulls the trigger will likely depend on how the young pass-catchers look once the games start counting and whether Jeudy can string together a few strong performances that raise his trade value.

If he does, the Browns could add another draft pick while clearing a path for the next wave of receivers they have already invested in.
