Despite carrying four signal-callers, the Cleveland Browns remain without a starting quarterback. While the situation appears to be progressing in favour of Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders, one insider believes that all could see some action.

“[General manager Andrew] Berry hasn’t ruled out keeping four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster when moves are made Aug. 30,” Cabot wrote.

When the Browns drafted Taylen Green, questions arose about the fate of the other three QBs on the roster. And after Watson’s performances during minicamp and OTAs, Sanders and Dillon Gabriel began to be viewed as potential trade candidates.

But following training camp, it appears the Browns may not be ready to part ways with any of their quarterbacks. Cleveland.com’s Browns beat reporter, Mary Kay Cabot, expressed that Browns GM Andrew Berry might not leave any of the QBs.

“It will likely end up being three, but the Browns might keep all four — Watson, Sanders, Dillon Gabriel and Taylen Green — until they work through their strategy,” said Cabot.

On Day 4 of training camp, Sanders posted a 59% completion rate with four touchdowns and one interception, while Watson recorded a 63% completion rate with three touchdowns and three interceptions.

Gabriel, meanwhile, finished with a 55% completion rate, throwing two touchdowns and one interception. Taylen Green completed his only pass, finishing with a 100% completion rate.

All four of them are getting reps, but some are receiving limited reps, as Browns HC Todd Monken explained would be the case.

“We anticipate alternating. First of all, four quarterbacks are going to compete, but they won’t all get equal reps. We’ll alternate just like we did in the spring with Deshaun and Shedeur with the ones,” said Monken, per the Mirror.

While the team is making sure everyone gets a chance to prove themselves, Todd Monken has added that the starting QB race has yet to begin.

Shedeur Sanders appears to be outshining Deshaun Watson during training camp. However, just a few reps won’t determine who is better.

According to Todd Monken, the real quarterback competition won’t truly begin until the eight days of offensive installations are complete next week.

“We are evaluating, but not to that extreme; nothing’s going to be decided over these install practices,” Monken said before the fourth practice of training camp, per Scott Perak. “We’re just getting it in, letting the guys compete, see where we’re at; that’s at all positions.

With training camp underway, the focus will soon shift to live action. The Browns kick off the preseason against Chicago on August 15 before facing Buffalo in a joint practice on August 20 and their second preseason game on August 22.
