The Cleveland Browns are entering one of the most extensive periods of change that the franchise has seen since rejoining the NFL in 1999. All five of their starting offensive linemen are eligible for free agency this off season, and they've already seen the departures of two key veteran players in tight end David Njoku and guard Wyatt Teller.
Thankfully, there seems to be at least one person who is willing to stick around for a little bit longer, and that's their now-former cornerbacks coach, Brandon Lynch, who has been with the team since the beginning of the 2020 regular season.
The Browns have promoted Brandon Lynch from cornerbacks coach to DBs coach/pass game specialist, as @jjones9 reported.

Lynch has done good work with Cleveland’s CBs and now gets a new title.
Lynch initially signed on to be an assistant defensive backs coach in 2020 before ultimately earning the title of cornerbacks coach in 2023. He's largely credited for the fact that the Browns did not surrender a single 300-yard passing performance to opposing quarterbacks in 2024, suggesting that his promotion to defensive backs coach was more a matter of "when" rather than "if."
There's also something to be said for the fact that Lynch, who will likely become a defensive coordinator in his own right sometime in the near future, was heavily pursued by multiple teams at the beginning of the offseason, but ultimately chose to remain in Cleveland.
He'll now work in tandem with the team's newfound defensive coordinator, Mike Rutenberg, the former Atlanta Falcons coach who was just brought on by Todd Monken three days prior to his promotion.
The recent string of moves suggests that Monken himself has made a priority of ensuring that the Browns' reputation of having one of the better defenses in the league continues, but it remains to be seen whether or not he'll be able to revive what was the second-worst scoring offense in the NFL last year.
Thankfully, the franchise has the benefit of owning both the sixth and 24th overall picks in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft, so there should be plenty of opportunities for them to find a true difference maker who is capable of finally bringing an end to this never-ending rebuild.
