Eagles get great news on star lineman Lane Johnson

The Philadelphia Eagles received a major boost Thursday when future Hall of Fame offensive tackle Lane Johnson announced he will return for a 14th NFL season.

Johnson shared his plans with Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer,   ending any uncertainty about his future and solidifying stability along the right side of the Eagles’ offensive line.

The 2025 season was challenging for Johnson. He battled injuries throughout the season, missing seven regular-season games as well as Philadelphia’s 23-19 wild-card loss to the San Francisco 49ers, a game in which the Eagles managed just two offensive touchdowns — one rushing and one receiving.

 A first-round pick (No. 4 overall) in 2013, Johnson has spent his entire 13-year career in Philadelphia. The six-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro (2017, 2022) has long been a cornerstone of the franchise and one of the league’s premier right tackles. 

Johnson is also the lone remaining starter on the offensive line from former line coach Jeff Stoutland’s tenure. (Stoutland resigned earlier this month.)

Even in a limited 10-game this past season, Johnson remained steady when available, committing just three penalties — two holding calls and one false start. With Johnson back in the fold, the Eagles retain both leadership and elite talent up front heading into 2026.

In 2025, starting center Cam Jurgens (back) and guard Landon Dickerson (ankle and knee) also dealt with injuries.
