Browns RB Quinshon Judkins’ frustration showed after the loss to the Vikings, and he had to bring up his Ohio State ties

Week 5 of the NFL season marked the first time the Cleveland Browns went to one of their rookie quarterbacks in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Cleveland handed the offense to third-round pick Dillon Gabriel and he gave them turnover-free football in the 21-17 loss to the Vikings in London. Cleveland was still unable to hit 20 points for the first time this season, but the quarterback play was undoubtedly improved

Cleveland held a 10-7 lead at halftime over Minnesota and even led late in the fourth quarter until a game-winning touchdown by Jordan Addison with 25 seconds remaining. It was a game that the Browns will likely feel like they should have one and fans will too. Oftentimes when you win the turnover battle you’re in good shape, but that didn’t come true for the Browns.

Quinshon Judkins was a star on Sunday but left the game frustrated

There wasn’t a better offensive player on the field for the Browns on Sunday than their rookie running back. Judkins crossed 100 yards rushing for the first time with 110 yards on 23 attempts. The rookie from Ohio State caught one pass for 18 yards and had a 50+ yard touchdown called back due to a penalty. Cleveland looks like they have their running back following the Nick Chubb era, but he just wants to win.

"Man, I'm a competitor. Regardless of what stats I have personally, it doesn't matter to me man,” Judkins said after the game. “I came from Ohio State. Our mentality was to win every single day. Every single day, no matter what it is, you're competitive in everything you do. So that's the mentality that I brought here to Cleveland. That's just my mindset. So for us not to come out with the win today, it definitely is a frustrating feeling."

Judkins spent one season at Ohio State and managed to clear 1,000 yards rushing despite splitting touches with now New England Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson. Judkins has uplifted the run game for the Browns and has 347 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns through four games. After missing the first game of the season and all of training camp, the Browns eased Judkins into things a bit and he’s full go now.

Cleveland has some very winnable games coming up and the next one is the toughest of their upcoming four games. The Browns will travel to play the Pittsburgh Steelers, then will have the Miami Dolphins at home. After that it is on the road at the New England Patriots, then a bye week before playing the New York Jets. The Browns have an elite defense that continues to be held back by the offense's inability to score points. That’ll have to change to win games.

Judkins being frustrated with losing as a rookie despite a big day statistically for him is what you want to see. Cleveland has a special one at running back who is poised for a big season and he comes with the right mindset.
