Browns WR Jerry Jeudy Marks First 1,000-Yard Season

During a season when there are not a lot of bright spots for the Cleveland Browns, there is light. And it was an abysmal day on Sunday as the Browns fell to the Kansas City Chiefs at home 21-7.

But there was plenty to cheer about as wideout Jerry Jeudy caught a season-high 11 balls for 108 yards on the day. That put Jeudy at over 1,000 yards on the season, the first time in his career he's eclipsed that mark.

It was also his third game of the year with over 100 receiving yards, with all three coming over the past five games. And it's an important milestone for Jeudy, who was traded to the Browns this past offseason after being forgotten in Denver.

"It means a lot," Jeudy said. "I've been grinding hard for this moment. This past offseason I've been working my butt off to perform to the best of my abilities. Reaching 1,000, I'm extremely thankful and extremely blessed. But, unfortunately, that thousand doesn't mean nothing without going to the playoffs, without winning games."

Against the backdrop of a losing season where not much has gone right in Cleveland, it's a little less gratifying for Jeudy.

"Right now, it doesn't mean anything," said Jeudy. "Like I said, the win is the most important thing and we just have to find a way to finish. That is the more important thing."

Jeudy wasn't celebrating his achievement much after a disappointing loss to the AFC-leading Chiefs on Sunday. But we got a glimpse of what it means to him personally as he discussed the possibility last week heading into the game.

"The most important thing for me is really to prove myself right, just by it being a frustrating three years in my career, but I didn't let that dwell on me," he said. "I just kept working and now I'm in the position I am now, about to reach a thousand yards."

And now it's time to focus on new goals that involve his teammates.

"The main goal for me is really trying to get to that Super Bowl and get to the playoffs for the first time in my career," Jeudy asserted this week. "So that's something I'm going to keep striving and work towards."
