The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made NFL history by becoming the first team to record a game-winning score in the final minute of their first three games with a 29-27 victory over the New York Jets.

While Tampa Bay managed to win and move to 3-0 on the season, the win came with a cost as star wide receiver Mike Evans left the contest. With 6:25 left in the fourth quarter, Evans lined up against Azareye'h Thomas, taking a few steps before turning back to quarterback Baker Mayfield in anticipation of a pass.

Evans pulled up and limped to the sideline before walking back into the locker room. The wide receiver is no stranger to hamstring injuries and missed three games in 2024 with a similar injury.

In a meeting with the media on Monday, Sept. 22, head coach Todd Bowles revealed Evans will have an MRI on Tuesday, Sept. 23 to determine the severity of the injury. Bowles gave Buccaneers fans some promising news, suggesting Evans suffered a "low grade" injury, which points to the star wide receiver avoiding being placed on injured reserve.

Evans is in the pursuit of NFL history as he attempts to surpass Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice for the most consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. The former Texas A&M Aggies star has recorded at least 1,000 yards in his first 11 seasons and sits tied with Rice as he attempts to set a record with 12-straight.

So far this season Evans has racked up 14 receptions for 140 yards. He's averaging 46.7 yards per game, which would put him on pace for under 800 receiving yards.
